Founding Director Simon is incredibly proud to announce that he has been selected as the first Bicycle Mayor of Warwick District.
The Bicycle Mayor role is independent and voluntary, He is the 12th active Bicycle Mayor in the UK and 137th from across the world, all championing change and the uptake in cycling.
He will be working closely with Warwick District Council, Matt Western MP, Sir Jeremy Wright MP, campaign groups like Cycleways Kenilworth, Leamington & Warwick & Clean Air Warwickshire and will be writing a regular column in the Leamington Courier amongst other things to promote cycling as a viable transport option.
The Bicycle Mayor network is run by BYCS a NGO based in Amsterdam. It was recommended to him by a number of people to apply to become a Bicycle Mayor, and through his work as British Cycling accredited coach at Stratford Cycling Club, The Bicycle Bus & Cycle Infinity CIC as well as organising Kidical Mass UK rides he felt it was a logical next step in his journey.
Simon said “I’m really looking forward to taking on the role, and was very happy to announce my appointment at a ‘Gear Change 50/30’ meeting today held at Vitsoe in Leamington Spa with many Stakeholders present. I have lots of ideas and plans for the next 2 years which is the tenure of a Bicycle Mayor.
Take a look at my profile https://bycs.org/simon-storey/ and the wider work we do”.
