Simon Storey

Simon is married to Emma & has 4 children, Milly, Chloe, Elise & William.

Cycling wasn’t Simons first sport, he used to play Rugby for his county, Warwickshire and at a semi professional level until in 2003 a broken leg & dislocated ankle ended his playing days.

It was whilst trying to keep fit that Simon first started cycling, when in 2008 he cycled from London to Paris on a 3 day charity bike ride & in doing so he completed his first century ride (100 miles)

He was hooked & he continued to ride for pleasure, especially looking at riding longer distances & from A to B rather than a circular route, enjoying the odd sportive here & there.

In 2012 he decided to organise his own personal sportive, coast to coast, 150 miles in a day, & invited some friends to join him, since then Simon & his friends have completed multiple single day & multi-day challenges including the legendary JOGLE (John O Groats to Lands End) in 8 days, London Paris London in 48 hours & Wales in a day (185 miles from  the Caernarvon to Chepstow) to name a few, as a team, raising nearly £40,000 for various charities.

In 2019 Simon qualified as British Cycling coach & volunteers his time at Stratford Juniors Cycling Club & has since taken a further qualification & is now level 2 accredited. He has become one of the senior coaches at Stratford & takes on other tasks such as organising a round of the West Midlands Youth Circuit League, organising the annual Christmas party & awards night & coordinating the other coaches to make sure there is adequate cover & essential tasks are completed.

In 2020, during lockdown, Simon set up The Bicycle Bus. He had attended a webinar about how to set up one which also coincided with his daughter Elise asking why they didn’t ride to school more often. Simon asked other parents why they didn’t ride to school & safety came back as a primary reason. Getting schools on board along with local councillors, council officers, the police, campaign groups & the local MP The Bicycle Bus grew to serving 4 schools & 2 different routes & is looking to expand to more areas.

Simon, & The Bicycle Bus have been nominated for several awards & was named winner in the 2023 BBC CWR Make A Difference Awards in the Green Award, winner of the CAVA individual award in the sport & leisure category & winner of the group award in the environmental category. The Bicycle Bus has also been shortlisted for a national award at the Team ModeShift National Sustainability Travel Awards to be held in York in November ‘23

In 2023 Simon started Cycle Infinity CIC & is the driving force behind it, transferring his passion from The Bicycle Bus, coaching & his own experiences to helping others learning to ride, improve, boost confidence & learn how to fix their own bikes etc

Simon is looking forward to growing the business & has plans to expand into other services & make new connections.
